A: Hypoxia/hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF).

Q: What influenced your decision to embark on a research career?
A: Interest in the fundamental mechanisms in human physiology and diseases.

Q; What excites you most about your research area?
A: I am very excited about the tremendous progress of basic and translational research in the hypoxia field. Particularly, HIF research from three outstanding scientists who were awarded the Nobel Prize in 2019.

Q: What do you do for fun outside of work? What are your passions and hobbies?
A: I enjoy time with my family.
