Detection of p63 by immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded normal prostate specimens. The image shows positive staining for p63 of the basal compartment of prostate epithelium, whereas the luminal/secretory cells are negative for this marker. An epithelial-restricted gene profile from adenocarcinoma-derived primary cells, highly enriched in luminal/secretory phenotype, has been derived and appears to contribute to predicting indolent versus aggressive clinical behavior of prostate cancer.
