Pasi A. Jänne

Pasi A. Jänne is a recently appointed Deputy Editor of Clinical Cancer Research. He is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, the Director of the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology, and the Director of the Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is a translational medical oncologist focused primarily on studying genetic subsets of lung cancer and identifying novel therapies for lung cancer patients.
An active member of the American Association for Cancer Research since 1999, Dr. Jänne has led numerous committees and presented work at the AACR annual meeting. Most recently, he served as a member of the publications committee and co-chaired the programming committee for the annual meeting from 2016–2018. He has also been an editorial board member of CCR since 2009.
Dr. Jänne has received numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, including honors from the AACR. In 2010, the AACR awarded him the Team Science Award and the Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Memorial Award. Just last year, he received the Waun Ki Hong Award for Outstanding Achievement in Translational and Clinical Cancer Research.
In addition to his work with AACR and positions at Harvard, Dr. Jänne has served on numerous advisory boards in the private sector and occupied leadership positions in major oncology organizations including the American Society of Oncology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Vassar College, a medical degree and a PhD in Genetics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Masters in Clinical Investigation from Harvard University.
