Cancer Epidemiology in Asian American and Pacific Islander Populations
The Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander population is the fastest growing racial and ethnic group in the United States. It is also one of the most diverse groups, comprising more than 30 distinct ethnic groups, speaking more than 100 different languages and dialects. With this diversity, in addition to their unique immigration and settlement patterns, there is vast heterogeneity in cancer risk factors, incidence and mortality rates and trends, and cancer care access and survivorship outcomes. This collection of articles highlights these heterogeneous cancer patterns, and demonstrates the necessity of data disaggregation.
