The cover shows high-grade dysplasia lesions along the squamocolumnar junction (SCJ) or cardia in a mouse model of Barrett Esophagus and adenocarcinoma with immune and stromal cell infiltration. PET tracer ex vivo autoradiography showed that CXCR4 is a specific marker for such immune and epithelial cells that accumulate gradually while dysplasia progresses, which are mediators of disease progression and therefore emerge as a potential biomarker in humans.
