XL-ing at Induction of Apoptosis in Kidney Cancer through Inhibition of BCL-X_L

Through analysis of the cancer dependency map of CRISPR and short hairpin RNA datasets, the antiapoptotic BCL-X_L was found to be a selective dependency in kidney cancer. Among kidney cancers, BCL-X_L inhibition is most active in those with a mesenchymal gene signature, which portends a poor prognosis and response to current therapies.
