Despite considerable progress against cancer in recent decades, disparities in cancer survivorship persist. Increasingly, upstream influences are recognized as key determinants of cancer-related disparities. However, predominant strategies often neglect to consider and/or address these influences, slowing progress toward achieving cancer health equity. This presentation will discuss an integrated framework that can be used to understand and address structural and social influences on disparities in cancer survivorship. Additionally, data from diverse sources will be used to illustrate the influence of social and structural factors on cancer-related outcomes. The presentation will underscore the importance of addressing structural inequities and social determinants to help cultivate equitable outcomes among cancer survivors.
