The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) oversees the implementation of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (TCA). The Agency's responsibilities under the law include setting product standards for tobacco products, reviewing premarket applications for new and modified risk tobacco products, requiring new health warnings, and establishing and enforcing product advertising and promotion restrictions. The CTP Office of Science was established to ensure that a sound science exists with which to develop and assess the impact of the FDA's tobacco-related regulatory actions. This presentation will provide an overview of CTP, tobacco regulation, and research priorities, including research and activities that include cancer and health disparities outcomes.
