Frequent Blood Donation Influences DNMT3A-Driven Clonal Hematopoiesis Available to Purchase

May 19, 2025
Major Finding: Although frequent blood donors do not have higher incidence of preleukemic DNMT3A variants, there is an enrichment of DNMT3A mutants that promote EPO-responsive expansion.
Concept: DNMT3A variants observed in frequent blood donors promote erythroid differentiation under persistent erythropoietic stress.
Impact: This study sheds light on how diverse selection pressures alter the landscape of clonal hematopoiesis.
