NCI Grants Down 31% Since January Free

Cancer research grant funding from the NCI has declined by 31% between January and March 2025 compared with last year, according to a report from the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. About $800 million in NCI grants was disbursed in the first 3 months of 2025, the report’s analysis showed, compared with approximately $1.15 billion in 2024. In addition, as of April 4, at least 715 NIH research grants worth $815 million had been cancelled, including some that funded cancer research and cancer centers.
