Former NCI Director to Lead Ohio Cancer Center Free

W. Kimryn Rathmell, MD, PhD, has accepted the role as CEO of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. She was the 17th director of the NCI, serving from December 2023 to January 2025. During her tenure, she launched the Early-Onset Cancer Initiative to study the underlying biological, social, and environmental factors contributing to this trend, and oversaw trials and initiatives that were part of President Biden’s Cancer Moonshot initiative. If the university’s Board of Trustees approves the hire, Rathmell will start on May 27.
