Thousands of Health Agency Employees to Be Let Go

The Trump administration is planning to lay off roughly 5,200 probationary employees across federal health and science agencies. About 1,300 employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention employee––about 10% of the agency’s workforce––who were recently hired or recently moved to a new position were let go this afternoon. According to NPR, the layoffs are being directed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was confirmed yesterday by the U.S. Senate as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
