X Chromosome Translocations Drive Sex Bias in a Rare Kidney Cancer Subtype

Major Finding: TFE3 fusion events in renal cell carcinoma can involve inactive X chromosomes and drive sex bias.

Concept: Inactive X chromosome translocations can partially reverse X inactivation and cause autosomal silencing.

Impact: Rearrangements of inactivated X chromosomes may explain the female sex bias across various cancer types.
