Liver Biopsy Profiling Can Predict PDAC Metastatic Risk and Organotropism

July 23, 2024
Major Finding: Molecular, cellular, and metabolic profiling of liver biopsies collected during resection of localized PDAC could predict metastatic outcome with high accuracy.
Concept: Pre-metastatic livers from patients can predict future metastasis, liver vs. extrahepatic metastasis, and long-term survival in patients with no evidence of disease.
Impact: Profiling liver biopsies at the time of PDAC diagnosis could identify high-risk patients who are likely to benefit from initial systemic therapy.
