Toward Better Support for Cancer Patients with IDD

Abstract: People with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities experience significant barriers as they navigate oncology care and a greater likelihood of worse outcomes than neurotypical patients. A new program at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, primarily led by social workers, is one of the first designed to help these patients through all phases of their cancer journey.
