CRUK Issues Dramatic Call to Fund Cancer Research Free

February 22, 2024

More than four dozen luminaries in the cancer research community, in concert with Cancer Research UK (CRUK), have signed a “letter to the world,” calling upon philanthropists and those with means to fund scientific investigations that could “transform the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer” and prevent “an untold amount of pain and suffering to families across the world.” Around the globe, “the research and scientific community stands ready to make breakthroughs that are within our reach. But a lack of funding is holding us back.” Simultaneously, CRUK announced the launch of its largest-ever fundraising campaign—More Research, Less Cancer—which aims to raise £400 million (more than $506 million) to “focus on work at the Francis Crick Institute, support the global cancer research initiative Cancer Grand Challenges, support scientists at every stage of their careers, and enable more innovation that translates into effective therapies and diagnostics for patients.”
