Telomerase Can Convert DNA Double-Strand Breaks into Telomeres

Major Finding: Human telomerase can add telomeric DNA to double-strand breaks, leading to neotelomere formation.

Concept: ATR signaling represses telomerase and subsequent neotelomere formation at resected double-strand breaks.

Impact: These results suggest that tumor cells could use this process to mitigate genomic instability.
