7-Dehydrocholesterol Suppresses Ferroptosis and Phospholipid Peroxidation

February 8, 2024

Major Finding: 7-Dehydrocholesterol (7-DHC) accumulation prevents phospholipid autoxidation and suppresses ferroptosis.

Concept: Pharmacologic inhibition of 7-DHC biosynthesis promotes ferroptosis and inhibits tumor growth.

Impact: These results suggest that pharmacologic manipulation of 7-DHC levels can be an effective antitumor strategy.
