PD-L2 Supports the Persistence of Senescent Cells After Chemotherapy

February 1, 2024

Major Finding: Therapy-induced senescence results in upregulation of PD-L2, which helps senescent cells evade the immune system.

Concept: Tumors lacking PD-L2 do not recruit myeloid-derived suppressor cells and undergo regression by CD8+ T cells.

Impact: These results suggest that addition of anti–PD-L2 antibodies could improve the efficacy of chemotherapy.
