Reflection
As we celebrate the third anniversary of Cancer Research Communications (CRC), we reflect on the remarkable journey we have undertaken since assuming the roles of co-Editors-in-Chief. Our mission from the outset was clear: to establish a publication platform that not only upholds the highest standards of scientific rigor but also broadens the accessibility of innovative cancer research. Over the past three years, we have made substantial strides in realizing this vision, as evidenced by several key milestones.
Major Milestones
One of our practical achievements is the publication of over 500 original articles in CRC, a number that continues to grow and may reach 600 by mid-October 2024. This volume of work is a testament to the vibrant community of cancer researchers who have chosen our journal as the home for publishing their work. Now indexed in major databases such as Medline/PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, CRC has also earned recognition within the broader scientific community. Notably, we have obtained our first Impact Factor this year, a milestone that not only reflects the quality of work published in our journal but also its growing influence within the scientific community. We expect that our Impact Factor will continue to increase as citations of published articles have been on a pronounced growth trajectory since CRC’s indexing in Medline/PubMed.
CRC Editorial Ethos
Our primary objective has always been to provide an inclusive and accessible platform for a broad range of cancer-related discoveries. This ethos includes offering a fast, efficient, and open access outlet for rigorously conducted studies, regardless of their immediate citation potential or impact.
At CRC, decisions regarding manuscript acceptance are guided by the quality and rigor of the research. We prioritize the publication of studies that contribute to the cross-disciplinary exchange of ideas and knowledge within the cancer research community; we are proud to have published numerous studies that have had a significant impact and attracted broad readership, potentially serving as catalysts for the next major discoveries in the field.
Exemplary Articles
Since our inaugural issue, we have had the privilege of publishing many articles that exemplify the journal's commitment to high-quality research. These studies have not only advanced our understanding of cancer but have also paved the way for future ideas and innovations. The diversity of topics covered in these exemplary articles reflects the breadth of our journal’s scope and its role in fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration. For a list of these articles, see Cancer Research Communications Exemplary Articles.
Future Perspectives
Looking ahead, our primary goals remain expanding access and broadening the reach of the AACR portfolio through publication of peer-reviewed research that spans bench to bedside. We are committed to publishing a diverse range of content that is freely accessible to the global cancer research community. The increasing number of pageviews and citations month-on-month is a clear indication that the scientific community recognizes the quality and value of the work published in CRC.
The foundation laid in these first three years has set us on a strong course for continued growth and knowledge dissemination in the field of cancer research. We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated editors, editorial staff, and reviewers whose expertise and commitment have been instrumental to our success. Most importantly, we thank the authors who entrusted us with their work, contributing to the journal’s early accomplishments. We are excited about the potential for progress and advancement on the path ahead for CRC.
