The CD200-CD200R signaling axis plays an etiological role in the survival and spread of numerous cancers. CD200 stimulates metastasis of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) via inducing expression of cysteine protease cathepsin K (Ctsk) in CD200R+ tumor-infiltrating myeloid cells. Inhibition of Ctsk blocks cSCC cell migration through collagen and blocks cSCC metastasis.
