This article (1) has been retracted at the request of the editors. Following an institutional review by Wayne State University (Detroit, MI), the primary affiliation for several of the authors, it was determined that the article (1) included multiple instances of data falsification and/or fabrication including inappropriate cutting/pasting and image manipulation, specifically multiple Western blot bands in Fig. 4C, the FoxM1 Western blot bands in Fig. 1D, and the MMP-9 and uPAR bands in Fig. 5B. In addition, the uPAR bands in Fig. 5B were copied and renamed from the cyclin D1 Western blot bands in Fig. 5 in a previously published article (2). As a result of these findings, the institution recommended retraction and, upon internal review, the editors agree with this recommendation.
A copy of this Retraction Notice was sent to the last known email addresses for four of the five authors. Four authors (Z. Wang, S. Banerjee, Y. Li, and F.H. Sarkar) did not respond; one author (D. Kong) could not be located.
