Schwerdtle, R. F., Störkel, S., Neuhaus, C., Brauch, H., Weidt, E., Brenner, W., Hohenfellner, R., Huber, C., Decker, H-J. Allelic losses at chromosomes 1p, 2p, 6p, 10p, 13q, 17p, 21q significantly correlate with the chromophobe subtype of renal cell carcinoma. Cancer Res., 56: 2927–2930, 1996.
Schwerdtle, R. F., Winterpacht, A., Störkel, S., Brenner, W., Hohenfellner, R., Zabel, B., Huber, C., Decker, H-J. Loss of heterozygosity studies and deletion mapping identify two putative chromosome 14q tumor suppressor loci in renal oncocytomas. Cancer Res., 57: 5009–5012, 1997.
Dr. Hans-Jochen Decker, senior author, has informed us that in the preceding two publications, one of the researchers used three autoradiograms twice in different contexts. Reevaluation of the data by Dr. Decker and an independent scientist showed that the major statements of the first publication are correct, whereas data from the 1997 publication could not be reproduced. To exclude any chances of misleading results or conclusions, Dr. Decker and his co-authors retract both manuscripts.
