Direct membrane fluorescence has been successfully accomplished using fluorescein-labeled human gamma-globulins containing antibodies reactive against antigen(s) on the membrane of Burkitt's lymphoma cells infected with EB virus. The membrane staining is inhibited by unlabeled sera from patients with Burkitt's lymphoma but not by a number of control sera, including three isoantisera from multiply transfused individuals.
