1. Clinical and experimental evidence suggests that the methyl group performs a significant function in the formation of leukocytes.

  2. Leukemia in mice was significantly inhibited by use of a combination of agents theoretically antagonistic to the important methyl-group reactants.

  3. These antagonists are A-methopterin, formamide (possibly), ethionine, and triethylcholine.
