Smokeless Tobacco (SLT) use is one of the most common risk factors for the development of oral cancer. The research article by Gupta and colleagues, starting on page 733, highlights that the diverse types of SLT products sold worldwide are associated with a high risk of oral cancer mainly due to the presence of high levels of tobacco-specific nitrosamines. The cover photomicrograph provided by Dr. Anurag Gupta, MD, shows features of moderately differentiated oral cavity carcinoma. Numerous epithelial islands and finger-like cords, exhibiting squamous differentiation, dyskeratosis, moderate cellular and nuclear pleomorphism with increased mitosis, can be seen invading the fibrocellular stroma (Hematoxylin and Eosin stain, 10× magnification). - PDF Icon PDF LinkTable of Contents

Use of Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs and Incidence of Melanoma in the United States Radiologic Technologists Study
NSAIDs have been associated with both reduced and increased melanoma risk. However, few studies have examined the role of UVR or personal sun-sensitivity on these associations. Our findings strengthen the evidence that NSAID use is not associated with melanoma risk, even in sun-sensitive subgroups.

Oral Cancer Risk Assessment for Different Types of Smokeless Tobacco Products Sold Worldwide: A Review of Reviews and Meta-analyses
Most smokeless tobacco products sold worldwide, mainly shammah, toombak, gutkha, betel quid with tobacco, and dry snuff, are associated with a high risk of oral cancer. A high concentration of tobacco-specific nitrosamines in smokeless tobacco products is the major causative factor for oral cancer development.
Association Between Baseline C-Reactive Protein and the Risk of Lung Cancer: A Prospective Population-Based Cohort Study
In this prospective population-based cohort study, we found an association between higher plasma hsCRP and an increased risk of developing lung cancer, with stronger associations observed among nonobese participants.
Epigenome-Wide Study Identifies Epigenetic Outliers in Normal Mucosa of Patients with Colorectal Cancer
Our study identifies an epigenetically distinct OMP group in the normal mucosa of patients with colorectal cancer that is characterized by a disrupted methylome, altered gene expression, and microbial dysbiosis. Identification of OMPs in healthy controls and patients with colorectal cancer will lead to prevention and better prognosis, respectively.
Development and Validation of a Noninvasive Risk Score Model for Liver Cirrhosis in At-Risk Alcohol Drinkers Without HBV/HCV Infection
The risk model we developed will not only be used as a practical tool to triage high risk groups for liver cirrhosis, but also have implications for public health measures, such as guidelines for the prevention of liver cancer, in at-risk alcohol drinkers without HBV/HCV infection.
Vulvar Cancer Incidence in the United States and its Relationship to Human Papillomavirus Vaccinations, 2001–2018
We found evidence that HPV vaccinations likely contributed to a decrease in the incidences of vulvar carcinoma in situ and invasive vulvar carcinoma among 20- to 44-year-old women between 2001 and 2018. Our data add to the growing evidence that HPV vaccinations are reducing the incidence of HPV-related anogenital cancers.
