Primo Nery Lara Jr., MD, was named director of the University of California, Davis, Comprehensive Cancer Center in April. He had been serving as interim director since the retirement of Ralph de Vere White, MD, in 2016. Lara was previously the Center's associate director for translational research and co-leader of the cancer therapeutics program. He co-chairs the NCI's Investigational Drug Steering Committee and chairs SWOG's professional review committee and its subcommittee on advanced renal cell carcinoma. Lara specializes in genitourinary and thoracic cancers.

Raymond N. DuBois, MD, PhD, and Michael N. Pollak, MD, became editors-in-chief of Cancer Prevention Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), on July 1. The previous editor-in-chief was Scott Lippman, MD.

DuBois is the dean of medicine and a professor of biochemistry and medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. In addition, he has served as president of the AACR and as president of the International Society for Gastrointestinal Cancer. He studies the molecular, genetic, and cellular basis for colorectal cancer, including the effects of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on disease prevention.

Pollak is the director of the Division of Cancer Prevention of the Department of Oncology at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has served as principal investigator on clinical trials testing novel agents related to growth factor targets, and conducts research on insulin and insulin-like growth factor and how they relate to cancer. He has also been a member of the editorial board of Cancer Prevention Research since its inception in 2008.
