Ramon Parsons, MD, PhD, was named director of the Tisch Cancer Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, NY, effective September 1. He succeeds Steven Burakoff, MD, who led the center for the past decade. For the last year, Parsons served as Tisch's deputy director and co-leader of its Cancer Mechanisms Program, which conducts research on cancer signaling, transcription regulation, and biology.

As director, Parsons will retain his role as chair of the Department of Oncological Sciences and continue his laboratory work on how altered signaling of PTEN, which he worked to identify in 1997, affects cancer progression.
