Following an institutional review by NYU School of Medicine, the primary affiliation for several of the authors, it was determined that in the original version of this article (1), the legends for Figs. 1J and 1K and 2A did not accurately indicate the number of mice used to generate the data in the figures. In Fig. 1J, pancreatic weights were recorded at 3 or 6 months of life; as in the original version, 10 mice per group were used at 3 months, but at 6 months, n = 9 for the control group and n = 8 for the germ-free group (two pancreata were excluded from this group after being placed in formalin before weighing). In Fig. 1K, 1 mouse in the group that received an ablative oral antibiotic regimen (Abx) was excluded from the analysis because of bleeding. In Fig. 2A, 1 mouse from each group was excluded from the analysis because of a mix-up in treatment. The legends have been corrected in the latest online HTML and PDF versions of the article. The accompanying figures remain unchanged from the original version. The authors regret the errors.
